So this is the end of it . . .

The dd.com message board closes tomorrow. I boosted my post count up to 1900 by posting about each song on my iTunes as it came up. It became weirdly compulsive and kind of fun.

I'm really going to miss that place. I'll probably see the usual suspects in other parts of the internet, but it won't be entirely the same.

Meanwhile, in the rest of my life, the plumbing has been fixed to the tune of $300. Ouch. But it should probably take this time.

Must go to bed now.

Today I took pleasure in just being. It was a curious sensation I haven't had in a while. I'm not sure if it's the exercise or the meditation, but I'll keep up both practices if it helps.

Today I learned how much I don't like the weird cardio machine at the end of the ellipticals.

News to me. Any word on why they are shutting the forums down?

Not that I've visited more than once or twice since they started them!

There's a statement that pretty indeterminate and vaguely insulting (they even pull "the lurkers support us in email"!) but I think what it comes down to is that Sarah, the mod for many years, stepped down and the new mod simply didn't know what to do with these people. It was largely unmoderated, which made things a bit crazy, but there was a kind of frontier justice that evolved that I was fond of.

It's still up as of this morning, if you'd like to have a look. You may need to sign up one last time, but it's a pretty quick process.

I was co-moderator with S. for a few months late in 2003 (without DD's knowledge, hehe), and aside from making a huge list of everyone's IP addresses (which was QUITE fun and helpful) I made myself leave everything strictly alone.

Because, once I would have started, I probably would have really pissed people off, because I would have deleted probably about 75% of the BS that went on.

weird to know it's gone.... even though I've stayed away the past couple years, still... it's weird....
