SPLURGE!

I went up to suss out the landscape at The Arena at Gwinnett Center, so I'd know how to get there and where to eat and stuff before the Duran Duran show on Thursday. It's easy enough to get to (well, at least, at noon on a Monday it is) and there seem to be some decent options food-wise.

On the way back, I decided to swing by North DeKalb Mall. What was I thinking? I just figured I'd poke my head in and see if they had any black jeans at Ross at a reasonable price. Har har har.

I did not get any black jeans. I did, however, get a furry, satin lined, reversible black coat for forty bucks. I also discovered a new 99-cent store in the mall, which is so freakin' cheap they don't have shelves. They have little stacks of cardboard boxes with the tops ripped off and the product contained within. And some little paper signs that say "Only 99¢!" And some cash registers. That's it. It's like shopping at a loading dock. I was able to get some useful things, like toothpaste and extra toothbrushes, and some relatively useless crap like lipstick and shiny wrapping paper. Then I went to the OTHER dollar store and bought even MORE crap (white satin gloves and flashy rings), and then went to another store and bought some fishnet stockings because they were cheap and there.

I am such a girl sometimes, I swear.

Today I also learned how to iron a shirt. My red silk shirt is now all pressed and pretty. Yay! I may go through my closet and see if there are any other shirts I've been avoiding wearing that I can use this new superpower on.

My sense of mindfulness has been slipping out from under me. Have to work on that.

Pre-show dinner maybe? (Are you going to the show?) I'm looking to hook up with some people I know then; the more the merrier. I no longer get off at two in the afternoon--I'm working saner hours, from seven to four--so I'll probably be getting off work, going home to change and then heading up there to eat and hang out.

If not, lunch on a Monday afternoon (I get Mondays off) would be just as spiffy.

Re: did you also
I didn't even think to try. I figure you just circumnavigate the venue until you find the door where the people are hanging out with albums and pens. Works for me.
