I Are A Grown Up Now

Evidence that I have well and truly become a grown-up:

1. I went to the tag office this morning to transfer my car tag to my new address, after being registered at my parents' house for the whole time I've owned it.

2. It rained today and instead of complaining about getting wet, I thought "Yay! Now I won't have to water my tomatoes!"

3. Last night, I bought a bottle of wine, and when the guy carded me, I laughed and thanked him.

4. Since I've been threatened with a kitten if I don't cough up a birthday list, I composed one last night and sent it to my family members. The top three items were: a WiFi router, a mixer and a food processor.

5. Today I went to the annual meeting for The Shire and cast my vote for a new board member and listened to people talk about the annual budget and argue about parking permits.

(Aside: I asked if we were going to insist on parking permits, what about those of us who have "frequent overnight visitors." Not that I actually have them right now, but, you know, I might at some point. One of the ladies said "Shame on you!" Fortunately, she seemed to be kidding.)

6. Since the meeting was at the nearby library, I decided that now that I had a driver's license with my proper address, I might as well sign up for a library card. So I did. And I was so geektastically happy about it all the way home.

Actually, item six might not make me that much of a grown-up, since trips to the library were a highlight of my childhood, as well. Our family would make periodic trips to Avis G. Williams Library, stock up on books, take them home, read like crazy, and then take them back and get more. Good times. And now I can do that any time I want to.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a book to read.

Today I took pleasure in finding out the vanity plate I wanted was available. (You'll see . . . )

Today I learned where the nearest library is.

At this point, it just makes more sense for the guestage to be in the other direction, since he doesn't live far and has a nicer bed. ;)

Cheers, have a good one!

If we were closer (and if I weren't so exhausted from BLITEOTW and zombie-fighting yesterday), I'd TOTALLY take you out for food and drinks, man!

Aw thanks!

I think freecloud13 beat you by a few hours, but all birthday wishes are good ones.

Glad you got out of that zombie mess okay . . . ;)
