So one of my New Year's Resolutions was to go to Orbital 2008. I bought the membership back in 2006, and I had until the end of this month to change my mind.

I decided to bite the bullet and I just booked the flight and the hotel. Let's just say my credit limit is good for it and leave it at that. I'm leaving on March 20th, arriving the morning of the 21st and then departing on the 25th. So, yeah, I'm pretty much missing Easter with the family this year, but I think there's a Catholic church somewhere in London I can avail myself of at some point.

The main reason I'm going is because Tanith Lee, one of my favorite living authors in the history of the written word, is one of the guests. (Oh, and some guy named Neil Gaiman is a guest, too. Some of you on this list may have heard of him.)

I am so excited I can barely think straight. Or maybe it's just the caffeine from the Coca-Cola I've been drinking; I'm not exactly sure.

I see far fewer restaurant meals in my near future, I can tell you that much.

Today I took pleasure in kissing a cute guy just after midnight.

Today I learned there are apparently no direct flights from Atlanta to Heathrow.

Who was the cute guy?

I was going to say it was nobody I've mentioned here before, but then I remembered that I did, very briefly. Don't know if I want to trumpet his name in a public blog entry, though, for reasons I might get into later in private.

It was quite innocent--just a quick Happy New Year sort of peck on the lips. No expectations, merely a kiss for luck. I initiated it; he didn't seem to mind. It was more than I ever could have expected and it was all I really needed.

I actually kinda hope they don't pull that on me, 'cos I don't know if I need the added stress of scrambling to get to a show on top of everything else.

If the gods of irony have any say in it, they'd be playing in Atlanta right around then!

OMG, you're going to London!! I want to meet you!!
Now I have a new good reason to go there (much better than to see DD anyway!)
Ahhhhhhhh!! :D

Would you have the time to meet me at some point during those 4-5 days?

As for Catholic churches, here's one: http://www.bromptonoratory.com/history/page2.html

That. Would. So. Rock.

I honestly have no clue what the schedule will be like. It being, ya know, a convention and all, I'll be spending most of my time going to the actual events. But I'm sure I could play hooky at some point and meet up with you.

I need to get a map or something so I can figure out where everything is in relation to everything else.

Heathrow (where it seems the convention is) is at the end of the Piccadilly line, which takes you to central London in about one hour. That Brompton Church is reachable by the Piccadilly line too (South Kensington stop)

I can't tell you yet if I could come meet you or not, but considering it's Easter week I might be able to get some good last minute deal at a short notice. I'd really really love to meet you! Fingers crossed!
