And Hello . . .

So, the beach was lovely, in case you wondered. The usual rituals of long walks by the ocean and reading lots of books were slightly disrupted by a leaking water heater that needed replacement, but I confined myself to the balcony for most of the time that the strange men were stomping in and out of the place.

Usually, I use the beach time to do the big introspectivey What Should I Do With My Life thing, but this time around I decided to just relax and not think too much about it. I came up with some interesting ideas for stories that I may or may not write.

I returned to, well, continued unemployment. Have an interview tomorrow, wish me luck, la di da, but my hopes have been dashed so many times I'm not even lifting them up too high with this one.

Made myself a big ol' batch of Southwest Chicken (well, Southwest Turkey, actually, using one of those one pound Tubes O' Ground Up Meat to make it with) so that should last me a few days. I also made a pitcher of proper lemonade and am having a bit of that with some Maker's Mark right now.

Proper Lemonade:

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 cup lemon juice
3 more cups water

Dissolve the cup of sugar into the cup of water in a small pot over low heat.
Pour the resultant syrup into the pitcher.
Add the lemon juice and three more cups of water.
Refrigerate until refreshingly cold.

Today I took pleasure in doing my Morning Pages out on my balcony.

Today I learned some fascinating things about the human brain, thanks to the book How We Decide by Jonah Lehrer.
