And a Happy New Year!

So I just got home from seeing The Forty-Fives throw down a blazing set at the Star Bar and I did a quick check of my friends page and came upon this benediction from Neil Gaiman, which I am posting here for reference:

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't to forget make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.

Thank you, Mr. Gaiman. I have every intention of doing so. :)

Pleasure and learning will come later in the day, I think. I'm going to make my way towards bed now.

So one of my New Year's Resolutions was to go to Orbital 2008. I bought the membership back in 2006, and I had until the end of this month to change my mind.

I decided to bite the bullet and I just booked the flight and the hotel. Let's just say my credit limit is good for it and leave it at that. I'm leaving on March 20th, arriving the morning of the 21st and then departing on the 25th. So, yeah, I'm pretty much missing Easter with the family this year, but I think there's a Catholic church somewhere in London I can avail myself of at some point.

The main reason I'm going is because Tanith Lee, one of my favorite living authors in the history of the written word, is one of the guests. (Oh, and some guy named Neil Gaiman is a guest, too. Some of you on this list may have heard of him.)

I am so excited I can barely think straight. Or maybe it's just the caffeine from the Coca-Cola I've been drinking; I'm not exactly sure.

I see far fewer restaurant meals in my near future, I can tell you that much.

Today I took pleasure in kissing a cute guy just after midnight.

Today I learned there are apparently no direct flights from Atlanta to Heathrow.
