I've actually been doing stuff, too . . .

Past couple of weekends I've been going to a course at Emory about Career Assessment. Today I took a one-day course in Cold Calling. My master plan is to build up a freelance writing business so I can work on my own time and not have to hassle with getting laid off. I've been reading books about it and it sounds like something I could do and actually enjoy doing. Apparently, Atlanta is a good city for writer types, too. So, we'll see. Anyway, my mom would only pay for the Cold Calling course if I took the Career Assessment course so I took it and the assessment was that I need to do something that involved writing. Like, duh. But it got me more determined to get going on the freelance gig.

Videodrome had Eddie Izzard's Circle on DVD for rent. "Blasphemeeeeee . . . Blaspheyouuuuuuuuuu!" Much fun.

Saturday night I actually got out and saw bands play. Hadn't done that in a while. (Unless you count Bowie at Chastain, but that's not quite the same thing.) Lineup in order of appearance was I Almost Saw God In The Metro (sort of dark early 80s sounding synthpop), Nikki Sudden (solo acoustic), Deerhunter (big crashy guitars) and Glass Candy (mix together Act One and Act Three.) Four acts, none of which sucked. I was very pleased. Had many amaretto and creams (amarettos and cream?) and after the show I hung outside for a bit and made friends with a big adorable dog that somebody was walking. (At 2:30 in the morning, yes.)

I'm thinking about going to Savannah this weekend. I know Memorial Day is a bad one for traffic, but it's the first weekend I've had free for a while and I really want to see how Malinda's doing. Speaking of, I should probably call her . . .
