What the HAIL?

I had the house to myself last night (M & D are in Alabama to see Shakespeare) so I stopped by on the way home to pick up a bottle of Merlot and some chocolate and spend with evening with some Eddie DVDs or maybe MST3K. I also borrowed from work a copy of the most recent of Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake novels, for my amusement.

I got home just in time for the skies to open up and furious rain to come down, mixed with mothball-sized hail. I took a shower and the lights flickered a bit as I did. By the time I got out of the shower and was ready to cook some ramen for dinner (ramen is a weird kind of comfort food for me--it tastes of having a place of one's own) the power went out and stayed out. So I read the Anita Blake book by the remaining daylight and was entertained. (Maybe not in the way Ms. Hamilton intended, but nevertheless entertained.)

The lights came back on just as the light was starting to fade, so I cooked my ramen while I still had the chance and then went back to reading. The power went out again, so I lit some candles, read until I was sleepy and went to bed.

I woke up to find the power was still out and when I phoned Georgia Power the automated voice informed me the estimated time of restoration was, oh, 6:45 PM, so I dozed a bit more and finally went out to get food and stuff. I'm actually posting this from the library and I'm going to see what books they may have and then maybe go out and look at bicycles.

Every thing OK?
Hail can be nasty esp. to car windows.
We haven't had anything that bad around here.

Hope you enjoyed the LK Hamilton...
One of my all time favorite authors. I'm always happy to hear that someone else is enjoying her work.
