It's just Tuesday . . .

Mom and Dad's plane back to the U.S. got delayed, so they'll probably be getting home sometime in the wee hours, assuming they don't wind up stuck in Miami.

The house is still relatively clean.

Shit is being stirred on dd.com. In other news, the ocean is wet and the sky is blue.

I've been reading Bait and Switch by Barbara Ehrenreich, author of Nickel and Dimed. Once again, it's a chronicle of her assessing the state of the economy by testing the job market for herself. In her previous book, she worked a series of minimum-wage jobs to see if and how she could actually survive on one. (Answer: nope, not really.) This time around, she's testing the job market for white collar employment and all the hoops one has to jump through to get hired. It's bitterly funny and, like Nickel and Dimed, has me nodding my head in rueful recognition.

Today I took pleasure in reading the aforementioned book.

Today I learned that Barbara Ehrenreich has the impression that Atlanta is "a city without a heart." (An impression I fear I must agree with.)
